The Democratic Alliance in Ekurhuleni recently visited the Thokoza Hostel and has expressed its shock about the conditions of the hostel.

On the 5th of March, DA’s Premier candidate Solly Msimanga visited the hostel to engage with the dwellers and canvass for votes for the upcoming elections.

DA PR Councillor in Ekurhuleni, Siboniso khali said that he was appalled that residents of South Africa are still forced to live in these horrid conditions under the ANC-led City of Ekurhuleni.

“The hostel is in desperate need of maintenance with water leaks and crumbling infrastructure,” said Cllr Khali

Cllr Khali furthermore stated that the residents have complained to the DA regarding the state of the toilets, which are barely functional.

“Long grass and litter surround the hostel and residents have come forward stating they no longer feel safe in the area as criminals use the long grass for opportunities to steal and mug by-passers.”

“25 Years into democracy and a tour of Thokoza Hostel highlights the ANC’s failures at every level. We need to do more. We need to hold the governing party to account. We need to bring change,” he concluded.
